“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.” (Ps. 111:10, Pvbs. 1:7, Pvbs. 9:10) “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, whether good or evil.”
Yes, God is love, and has saved us through Jesus in His abundant mercy and grace. But there is a blatant lack of fear in our world today, and even inside our churches. There is no “reverential” fear anymore. This “I can do what I want” attitude is not only running rampant, but is deadly. That’s cheap grace and is very dangerous. The wrath of God IS coming on the sons of disobedience. Jesus said if we love Him, we will obey His commandments.
But aren’t we free in Christ? YES! We are free from the bondage sin has over our lives, but we are not free to continue to live in sin without consequences. Paul asked if we should continue in sin so that grace may abound. And the answer is a resounding “Absolutely not!”, and “God forbid!” (Romans 6)
Jesus loves us so much that He gave His own life to save us. But what was His message? “Repent!” “Go, and sin no more.”
If you are still struggling in certain areas or sin(s) in your life, ask the Lord to help you through His Holy Spirit to overcome, and He will! He IS the chain-breaker! He IS the way-maker. Remember, we are new creatures in Christ. The new has come, the old has passed away. HALLELUJAH!
